DoT Amends Unified License and Unified Access Service License Regarding Sharing of Infrastructure

The DoT has issued a Notification on April 6, 2021 amending the ‘Unified License’ to permit telecom companies to share infrastructure pertaining to Wi-Fi equipment, such as Wi-Fi router, access point and backhaul. The Notification allows the licensee to enter into mutual commercial agreements for roaming facilities with ‘Unified Licensees’ having category ‘A’, ‘B’ and ‘C’ internet service provider authorisations, or providing internet access service only. Similar amendments have also been introduced to the Unified Access Service License.
