Registration for M2M Service Providers and WPAN/WLANs

The Department of Telecommunication (‘DoT’) has issued addendum no. 4-53/M2MSP/2022-NT dated January 01, 2024, and Letter no. 4-63/2023-NT dated March 27, 2024, in connection with the Guidelines for Registration Process of Machine to Machine (‘M2M’) Service Providers and WPAN/WLAN for M2M Services dated February 08, 2022. Besides company, limited liability partnership or partnership firm, the addendum now permits Government departments/organizations, institutions, undertakings, proprietorship firms, societies and trusts also to function as M2M service providers (‘Entities’). Further, all organisations that provide M2M services are required to register by June 30, 2024, failing which the telecom resources will be withdrawn and disconnected. Separately, by way of Letter no. 4-63/2023-NT dated February 5, 2024, DoT has instructed all telecom licensees to not provide telecom resources for M2M services to providers not registered with DoT.
