Advisory Guidelines to M2M/IoT Stakeholders for Securing Users and Networks

The DoT has, by way of office memorandum no. I/3088308/2023 dated March 2, 2023, issued broad security guidelines for Machine to Machine (‘M2M’) / Internet of Things (‘IoT’) end-points, that deal with safety and security standards for protection of users and networks that connect the M2M/ IoT devices. The key directions include not using universal default password for M2M/IoT devices, regularly updating software components, publishing end-of-life policy for end-point devices and taking measures to disclose vulnerabilities of devices and remedies.
