Amendment in License Agreement for Provision of VSAT Service Using INSAT System for Change in FDI Norms

The DOT has, by way of file dated November 5, 2021, amended the license agreement for provision of very small aperture terminal (‘VSAT’) service using Indian national satellite (‘INSAT’) system, to permit FDI up to 100% under automatic route in the licensee entity. However, Government approval will be required if foreign investment is proposed to be infused or transferred to an entity in a country which shares land border with India or if the beneficial owner of the investment into India is situated in or is a citizen of such a country.
