Amendment to Telecommunication Mobile Number Portability Regulations, 2009

The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (‘TRAI’) has amended the Telecommunication Mobile Number Portability Regulations, 2009 by way of Notification no. RG-18/(6)/2023-NSL-II dated March 14, 2024 to introduce a waiting period of seven days which will apply after SIM swap or replacement of mobile number prior to a request for MNP request. In the scenario unique porting code (‘UPC’) cannot be allocated as the request for UPC has been made during the cooling-off period.
