With a view to contain the spread of COVID-19, the Competition Commission of India (‘CCI’) has issued a circular suspending its merger control and behavioural functions until March 31, 2020.  During this time, the following functions of CCI will remain suspended:

•      filings in relation to cartel and abuse of dominance provisions of the Competition Act, 2002 (‘Act’);

•      merger filings under Section 6 and Section 20 of the Act and pre-filing consultations; and

•      other filings and proceedings before CCI or its investigative wing, the Director General under the Act or any underlying regulations.

All non-urgent matters listed before CCI for hearing before 31st March 2020 were already adjourned by way of a separate circular issued last week.
