DoT Issues Draft Indian Telecommunication Bill for Public Consultation

Pursuant to public comments on the Consultation Paper on ‘Need for a new legal framework governing Telecommunication in India’, the DoT has issued a draft of the Indian Telecommunication Bill, 2022 (‘Bill‘) for further public consultation. The Bill is intended to provide for future-ready legal framework in telecommunication and proposes to replace the existing legal framework comprising of the Indian Telegraph Act, 1885, the Wireless Telegraphy Act, 1933 and the Telegraph Wires (Unlawful Possession) Act, 1950. Last date of sending comments on the Bill is October 20, 2022.
