DoT Publishes Captive Non-Public Network License Agreement

Pursuant to Guidelines dated June 27, 2022, the DoT has now published the sample agreement for license to Captive Non-Public Network (‘CNPN’) on its website. The license agreement allows the CNPN licensee to establish indoor networks for its own use and prohibits them from providing commercial telecommunication services to third parties. This is a geographic location specific license. Foreign direct investment up to 100% under automatic route is permitted under the license. Besides this, the DoT has, similar to any other license agreement, prescribed technical and security conditions that the licensee must adhere to while providing the services.
