SEBI (Foreign Portfolio Investors) (Amendment) Regulations, 2022

SEBI has, by way of Notification dated January 14, 2022, amended the SEBI (Foreign Portfolio Investors) Regulations, 2019 (‘FPI Regulations’). SEBI may now suo motu or based on an application made by a foreign portfolio investor (‘FPI’), grant relaxation from the strict enforcement of any provision of the FPI Regulations, subject to such conditions as SEBI deems fit to impose. Such relaxation is subject to SEBI’s satisfaction that: (i) the non-compliance was caused due to factors beyond the control of the FPI; or (ii) the requirement to be complied with was procedural or technical in nature.
