This update provides a concise overview of the amendments proposed under the Bill to the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act, 2010 (“Act”), aimed at addressing key operational and legal gaps in the current framework, most notably the ambiguity surrounding the treatment of assets of organizations whose registration under the Act have been cancelled, suspended or ceased to exist.

It also examines the potential impact of these proposed changes on NGOs receiving foreign contributions under the Act, with a focus on the evolving compliance landscape.
