TRAI Issues Directions for Implementation of Digital Consent Acquisition

To create a unified platform for registration / recording of customer’s consent digitally and ensure access providers’ compliance with TCCCPR, the TRAI has issued directions (‘DCA Directions’) on June 02, 2023. Pursuant to the DCA Directions, access providers must: (i) ensure no promotional messages are sent without verification of customer’s consent; (ii) ensure no promotional messages are sent under the service message category; (iii) develop and deploy a Digital Consent Acquisition (‘DCA’) facility; and (iv) update their COP within 15 days and furnish monthly report for compliance with the DCA Directions. Upon implementation of the DCA platform, no other consent acquisition process can be used.
