ESIC Notifies SPREE Scheme and Introduces New Amnesty Scheme, 2025

The Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (‘ESIC’), by way of a Notification dated July 1, 2025, has launched the ‘Scheme to Promote Registration of Employers/Employees (‘SPREE’)’. The Scheme offers a one-time opportunity for employers and employees who may have been excluded from the Employees’ State Insurance Act, 1948 (‘ESI Act’) coverage to register without retrospective liability or punitive action. The Scheme is open for six months from July 1, 2025, to December 31, 2025.

Additionally, the ESIC, by way of a Circular dated June 27, 2025, has rolled out the ‘New Amnesty Scheme, 2025’ to pave the way for out-of-Court resolution and withdrawal of criminal and civil litigation arising under the ESI Act in respect of disputes pending up to March 31, 2025. The Scheme will remain in force from October 1, 2025, to September 30, 2026.
