Google India Private Limited before the Karnataka High Court in Writ Proceedings

AZB & Partners successfully advised and represented Google India Private Limited (“Google India”) before the Karnataka High Court in Writ Proceedings challenging the rejection of Google India’s deletion application by the Trial Court in a defamation suit.

The High Court of Karnataka, observing that the existence and operations of Google India were separate and distinct from those of Google LLC (which owns and operates Google & YouTube Platform), held that Google India being a separate and distinct entity, could not be made liable for any content which may have been posted on the Google / YouTube Platforms.

The matter was led by Partner Mrinal Shankar, assisted by Senior Associate Anandi Kamani, and Associates Vinudeep R, Abhay Shetty and Karthikka KC.
