Our Aviation Round-up recaps significant developments in the Indian aviation industry in the first half of 2025.
The Bharatiya Vayuyan Vidheyak, 2024 was implemented in January followed by the announcement of the extension of the UDAN scheme in the Union Budget 2025-26 and the revision of the flight duty time limitation in February. We also saw some significant transactions like the first aircraft acquisition by an Indian bank through GIFT-City in March, CCI’s approval of the acquisition of Akasa Air’s shareholding and the expansion of FLY91’s fleet in April. The Cape Town Act, 2025 was implemented in May which also increased India’s CTC compliance index score. May also saw another great rating – which was the first ever for an airline, from Moody’s to IndiGo. The 81st IATA AGM and World Air Transport Summit was held in New Delhi in June. In the same month Akasa Air added a 29th aircraft to their fleet.
