Microfinance

Leading sectoral progress through legislative and regulatory reformation.

OUR
PRACTICE

AZB’s microfinance practice is well established and actively advises leading microfinance institutions organised as not–for–profits, operating in some of the most challenging areas. Our clients include multilateral investors, social impact funds, development funds, banks, PE funds, social sector investment funds and sector specialist advisors.

Members of our team have served on government–instituted committees and have contributed to several pivotal legislative and regulatory reform efforts in the sector. Our work with Indian regulators, such as the Reserve Bank of India and the Securities Exchange Board of India, notably, our recommendations to the Malegam Committee, were responsible for easing access to MFIs to avail of external commercial borrowings.
